How To Create A Tassel - With a Video

Good Morning,

On my You Tube Channel Today I teach you how I create a bookmark tassel. (Sorry I didn't take any pics along the way please pop over and watch the video on my You Tube Channel.

I cut a piece of thick card that I had received in the mail as some packaging. the cardboard should be double the size that you are wanting the length of the tassel to be (head to tail).

Fold the cardstock in half and use your bone folder to create a crease and make it nice and flat.

Holding the cardstock so that the open end is at the bottom, you will then wrap some twine/cotton/wool or whatever it is that you would like your tassel made out of, you will keep wrapping around until it is the thickness you desire.

Cut another piece of twine approx 15cm long, fold it in half and slide it into the cardstock under the top layer of twine (near the top of the cardstock), tie it into a tight knot (this will create the loop for the top of your tassel).

Using the last bit of twine that has been wrapped (still attached to your ball) leave this piece approx 10cm long, we will use this piece shortly (do not trim in next step)

Holding the above piece off to the side and do not cut it shorter.. You will then carefully slide your scissors under the top layer of twine where the cardstock is open and cut through holding the front and back of all the twines.

Using the long piece we left from above wrap it around the top of the tassel creating a "head"on the tassel, tie it into a knot and carefully push the knot underneath the wrapping so that you cannot see it. Use your fingers to tidy up the tassel then use your scissors to trim and tidy up the bottom strings of the tassel.
